Dynamic Ride

Dynamic Ride

A Lemmon, One to Remember

If you have never ridden Mt. Lemmon in Tucson, Arizona, you should! It is a ride filled with tight corners and amazing views. The ride starts at the base of the Santa Catalina Mountain range and ends at the quaint mountain town of Summer Haven.

Beginning the hour long ride at the foot of the Catalina Mountains, 2,400 feet above sea level, you are surrounded by majestic saguaro cacti and the elements of the desert. You climb almost 7,000 feet higher, to 9,000 feet, where not a cactus dare grow and the scenery is drastically different.

Halfway to the top at Windy Point, a new pull out section makes this spot a great stop along the way. A great view of the Tucson valley is seen at this stop.

As you progress up the winding roads the scenery begins to change. Wind blown rock formations line the road. As you weave through the corners hanging on the edge of a cliff you notice the beginnings of a massive forest.

As the temperature drops you are immersed in green grass and evergreens. From Ski Valley, a stop just before Summer Haven, the views off the back of the mountain are spectacular. You can ride the ski lift to the top of the mountain for an amazing vantage point.

Just up the road on the other side of the mountain top is a quaint town, Summer Haven. At the Iron Door Restaurant or Mt. Lemmon Café you can have great meal or grab a cup of coffee at the Summer Haven Coffee House. It is a great spot before you head back down the mountain.

If you have ridden Mt. Lemon you know it is a Ride to Remember. If you have not yet ridden it you should. Plus with it close proximity to Tucson it is a Ride that can be done over and over.
